I am the Chief Executive Officer at Evergreen Bioworks, Inc., a synthetic biology company built to engineer biological solutions to human problems. Before entering the start-up world, my academic research used Caenorhabditis elegans and related nematodes to answer fundamental biological questions about the role of genetic networks and the environment in determining longevity, health, and reproduction. Experimentally, I draw from traditional molecular biology, genetics, neurobiology, and evolutionary biology techniques. Additionally, when the available approaches are lacking I embrace the opportunity to develop new methods and technologies to drive research forward. In my role as an innovator I attempt to search a broad solution space spanning soft-lithography microfluidics, synthetic biology, next-generation genomic engineering, and beyond.
